Email Is Not Dead

Typing on on a laptop laptop and phone Photo by Austin Distel on Unsplash Many people believe emails are an antiquated form of communication. I suppose when compared to instantaneous communication via texting, social media, and messaging apps one could make that argument. However, emailing is not dead, particularly if you are conducting business. There is something a bit more solid and credible about an email versus a quick text message. Agreed, not every email gets a response, but don’t get frustrated if you’ve prepped the perfect knock-out email campaign and only get a few responses. Don’t give up. by Brian Tromp on Unsplash Email campaigns can be a tough marketing tool due to the sheer amount of them and the large number of companies competing for the same customers. Just keeping your name in a customers’ email box is worth something. Maybe they aren’t ready to purchase yet, but when they are, they are likely to remember your consistent presence. Photo by Andrik Langfield on Unsplash If you aren’t getting the opens, click throughs, or responses you desire, try emailing at a different time of day or different day of week. Very often, it is merely a matter of busy people. For example, I’m certainly more of a late night or weekend promotional email opener. In the morning, I skim my emails for anything business-related and deal with it. I guess you could say that my late-night email opening for shopping is my unwinding and downtime. Try offering potential customers free, useful information for opening your email. If you are a real estate agent, offer them a complimentary homebuyer’s guide or monthly sales data. End the email with some sort of engagement or action, i.e., if your company offers free estimates, end the email with a request to set an appointment for a free estimate.   Remember, until you get an unsubscribe, everyone is still a potential customer.
