Library Lovers Month - How You Can Participate
I love reading. I have always loved to read, and it is a pastime I cherish very much in my life. I find reading in coffee shops, on my balcony, or even in my bed a lovely moment where nothing else matters. I can simply engross myself in the story I am reading. I know it sounds dramatic, but ask any book lover, and I am sure they will say the same.
Anyhow, February is National Library Lovers month and is all around regarded as a month made for book lovers. So, why bring this up in a marketing blog? Well, this could be the moment for you to embrace book lovers and create reading opportunities within your business.
Here are a few ideas to integrate your business with the book community as well as your local library.
- Host a book drive to donate to a local library whether it be for your public library or a school library, this is a great way to support your community by getting everyone involved and allowing people to have a space to donate old books and give them a new life.
You can make several social media posts about this and even offer an incentive to those that donate whether it be a discount or a free item. However, just the act of giving to a better cause is a great incentive for most people.
- If you are a café, wine bar, or chill bar type establishment, host a book club or silent reading night. No one has to speak a word to each other, but they get to enjoy reading with all the folks around them This is a fantastic marketing tactic that will drive tons of people to your business and makes a whole community of people feel included in your brand.
- My last idea to celebrate National Library Lovers Month is to start your little free library in front of your business. Similar to the book drive, you can set up a small box in front of your establishment and encourage people to leave books and write reviews about why they loved or hated a book. This in itself can become your next big thing and set your business up for a good edge because you are not only involving the community, and supporting a great pastime, but it is also low stakes for those involved. People are not pressured by needing to reveal their identities or anything like that, they simply just get to participate, and that is a great thing indeed.
I know these may feel like unconventional marketing tips, but unconventional gets you noticed. People love to see multifaceted businesses that are involved with their community and actively improving it. Take these to heart if you are serious about creating a local business with space to grow in many areas and with many new people.
